SYLACAUGA, Ala. - The Alabama High School Athletic Association released the winter and spring sports alignments for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years last Friday, March 13.
Earlier this year, the Aggies learned they would move to Class 4A beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. The updated alignments confirm where Sylacauga will compete across several winter and spring sports during the next two-year classification cycle.
The change is part of a larger restructuring by the AHSAA. Beginning in 2026-27, public and private schools will compete in separate classifications. Public schools will compete in six classes, 1A through 6A, while private schools will compete in their own Single-A and Double-A divisions.
As part of the restructuring, the AHSAA has eliminated Class 7A for public schools, a division that was introduced in 2014. Under the new format, the 32 public schools with the highest enrollment will compete in Class 6A. The next 65 schools will make up Class 5A, with the remaining schools distributed evenly through the lower classifications.
Below are the winter and spring sports classifications for the Sylacauga Aggies.
