Jacksonville forfeits win over Aggies due to recruiting violations
Jacksonville High School has forfeited its recent victory over Sylacauga High School due to violations of AHSAA recruiting rules, impacting the Aggies' season record.
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Jacksonville High School has forfeited its recent win over Sylacauga High School due to violations of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) recruiting rules. The Aggies, who lost to Jacksonville 28-14 two weeks ago, will see that game removed from their record.
The AHSAA has fined Jacksonville and placed the school on probation for violating Rule VI, Administration, Section 12, Recruiting, as outlined in the 2026-2027 AHSAA Handbook. Any students found in violation of this rule will be permanently ineligible to participate in athletics at Jacksonville High School.
As part of the penalties, head football coach Jeremy Sullivan and assistant coach Phileepae Holloway will be suspended from coaching in the AHSAA for one year. While the team will be allowed to play its 10-game regular-season schedule, it will not be eligible for postseason play.
Games played against Jacksonville High School will not count in the Class 4A, Region 6 standings or any tiebreakers, as the school is ineligible for championship play. This ruling significantly impacts the competitive landscape of the region as teams adjust to the new standings.
